Boundary Support
When you feel responsible for everything and everyone, even a small no can feel enormous.

Good to Know
Therapy sessions are held by secure video for adults located in Maryland.
Boundary Support
The Yes That Costs You
Maybe you say yes because it feels easier than the guilt. At work, at home or with a partner, you are the person who steps in before anyone else has to. Over time, that responsibility can leave very little room for you.
Boundary Support
Clear Can Still Be Kind
We can look at why a boundary feels so hard to hold, then practice words that sound like you. You do not have to become cold or harsh. You can be caring and still be clear.
More About This
Therapy begins with what feels most important to you. We can talk about whether this approach fits in a free consultation.

Keep Practicing in Real Life
I bring accountability and practical between-session work, so what we discuss does not stay in the video call. Small, repeated choices can help you see where your time and energy really go.
Boundary Practice
Find the Words
A boundary is easier to hold when you've already practiced the words. Pick a moment that sounds familiar.
Hosting the Holiday Again
Try saying
“I love our holidays together, and I can't host this year. I'm happy to bring a dish wherever we land.”
What might come up
Guilt, and the urge to explain yourself.
Remember
You don't owe anyone a list of reasons. One clear, kind sentence is enough.
The 9 p.m. Work Email
Try saying
“Thanks for sending this. I'll take a look first thing tomorrow.”
What might come up
Worry that you'll look less committed.
Remember
Being dependable during work hours is commitment. Being reachable at every hour is a different thing.
Being the Default Planner
Try saying
“I've planned the last few trips. Can you take the lead on this one? I'm glad to help with anything you need from me.”
What might come up
The itch to step in when it isn't done your way.
Remember
Letting someone else carry it, even imperfectly, is how the load starts to get shared.
A Favor on Your Only Free Night
Try saying
“I'd love to help, and tonight doesn't work for me. Could we look at Saturday morning instead?”
What might come up
Fear that saying no will cost you the relationship.
Remember
People who care about you can hear a no, especially one this warm.
Doing It All at Home
Try saying
“I'm carrying more at home than I can keep up with. Can we sit down this weekend and split things differently?”
What might come up
Resentment you've been swallowing for a while.
Remember
Naming it early and calmly is easier than waiting until it boils over.
Boundaries don't have to be harsh to be clear. If saying any of these feels impossible right now, that's worth exploring in therapy, and it's something we can work on together.
