Patterns That Follow You Home
Marriage strain, family conflict or being the person who keeps the peace can wear on you. Sometimes the problem is not one argument but the pattern that keeps bringing you back to it.
Day to day, relationship strain can look like keeping the peace, anticipating other people's reactions or saying yes before you have checked what you need. You may replay a conversation afterward or take responsibility for repairing every difficult moment. That pattern can happen with a partner, family member or another important person in your life. Caring deeply does not make the exhaustion less real. Individual therapy gives you room to hear your own voice, notice where you disappear from the exchange and consider a response that is both caring and clear.

Begin With Your Own Voice
In individual therapy we look at what you need, how you ask for it and what happens when you try to be honest. We can practice clearer communication and boundaries without pretending relationships are simple.
In sessions, CBT helps us listen for thought themes about responsibility, conflict and what might happen if you are honest. DBT and ACT skills can support you through difficult feelings, while somatic and mindfulness tools help you notice when stress is shaping your response. Resilience skills I am certified by the U.S. Army to teach may also fit the work. We can practice words that sound like you and use accountability and intentional homework to try a clear communication step between sessions. The goal is not to control another person's response, but to understand and practice your own choices.
More About This
Should I Choose Individual or Couples Therapy?
Individual therapy centers your own patterns, needs and choices. Couples therapy includes both partners and supports communication, conflict and connection. A free consultation can help you ask which starting point fits, without promising a particular result.

When Both Partners Want to Work
If you and your partner want support together, I also offer Gottman-informed couples therapy by secure video. Both partners must be in Maryland during sessions.
Individual therapy begins with your experience, even when another person is part of the concern. Couples therapy is also available when both partners want to take part, and I draw on the Gottman Method in that work. Both partners must be in Maryland during secure video sessions. Individual therapy is $175 per session and couples therapy is $190 per session, with appointments Monday to Friday. For individual therapy, I accept UnitedHealthcare, UMR, Optum, Aetna, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and self pay. I verify your benefits before our first session, so there are no surprises. Couples therapy is self pay; I'm out of network with insurance for couples sessions. Reduced-fee options may be available. Ask about eligibility in your free consultation.
